Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) is likely to offer eight geographical areas (GAs) under the 12th city gas distribution (CGD) bidding round soon. In order to further expand the reach of natural gas in the country, PNGRB has finalised eight GAs for which public consultation process is being initiated to invite views and comments of the public and stakeholders. The eight GAs to be bid out include Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Union territory (UT) of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
Currently, there are 302 authorised GAs by PNGRB covering around 88 per cent of the country’s geographical area and 98 per cent of its population. Besides, in the 11th and 11A CGD bidding round, PNGRB authorised 67 GAs for the development of CGD network in the country.
