Recently, Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) launched PNG Drive 2.0, a nationwide campaign from January 1, 2026 to March 31, 2026, aimed at significantly expanding natural gas connectivity and promoting wider usage. This is in line with Government of India’s vision to to increase natural gas consumption and advancing India’s Net Zero 2070 commitment with immediate target of reducing Gross Domestic Product (GDP) emission intensity by 45 per cent from 2005 levels by 2030.

PNG Drive 2.0 follows a sharper, more focused approach with enhanced stakeholder engagement and robust monitoring.

PNGRB has authorised City Gas Distribution (CGD) entities to lay, build and operate networks across 307 geographical areas (GAs). The CGD infrastructure is supported by a 32,667 km common carrier natural gas pipeline network (NGPL) operated by 14 authorised NGPL entities.
