Around 19,500 households in the twin cities of Hubballi-Dharwad are expected to be connected to the piped natural gas (PNG) network by end of May 2021. The transition from liquified petroleum gas to the more environmentally friendly PNG promotes both the state and central government’s push for adoption of greener solutions in the energy sector.

So far, around 7,000 households in Hubballi-Dharwad have been connected to the PNG network by Indian Oil Adani Gas Private Limited (IOAG). IOAG has set the target of supplying natural gas to 37,000 households by the end of 2021. The length of the PNG network in the twin cities has been extended to 323 km with natural gas being sourced from the Dhabol-Bengaluru pipeline.
