The piped natural gas (PNG) price was hiked by Rs 2.63 per unit in Delhi with effect from August 5, 2022. This is due to rise in input costs issued by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL). PNG in Delhi will now be priced at Rs 50.59 per standard cubic meter, as against Rs 47.96 previously.

IGL, a joint venture of GAIL (India) Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, is already engaged in supplying CNG and piped natural gas in Delhi, Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Rewari and Gurugram. Further, the price of domestic PNG in Kanpur, Fatehpur and Hamirpur is being revised to Rs.53.10 per standard cubic meter with effect from August 5, 2022. In another development, the price of domestic PNG in Ajmer, Pali and Rajasamand is being revised to Rs.56.23 per standard cubic meter. This is the second hike in prices in less than two weeks.

Similar increases in piped cooking gas have been affected by city gas retailers in other parts of the country. In Mumbai, Mahanagar Gas Limited hiked compressed natural gas price by Rs 6 per kg and PNG by Rs 4 per unit.
