In a notable development, Petronet LNG will be setting up natural gas dispensing stations at bus terminals to facilitate Kerala State Road Transport Corporation’s (KSRTC) plans to convert its diesel buses into natural gas-based vehicles. As a pilot project, two liquefied natural gas (LNG) dispensing stations will be set up in Thiruvananthapuram and Aluva. The setting up of more stations will depend on the conversion rate of State-owned buses to natural gas-run buses.

KSRTC has chalked out-plans to convert around 3,000 diesel buses to LNG in three years at an average expenditure of Rs 2.5 million. In the initial phase, the company plans to convert around 50 buses to LNG. The State Government has already earmarked Rs 1 billion in its budget in this regard.
