Reportedly, Bihar Transport Department will roll out 12 new compressed natural gas (CNG) stations and 50 CNG buses in Patna by January 2021. The development comes in light of the transport department’s efforts taken to reduce Patna’s air pollution level and introduce eco-friendly vehicles and cleaner fuels.

Further, the state’s transport department will either convert all diesel-run autorickshaws into CNG or replace them with new ones. CNG supply began in Patna after the inauguration of the city’s gas distribution network in February 2019. Currently almost 5,000 autorickshaws in the city are running on CNG. Besides, Bihar State Road Transport Corporation operates 20 buses that have been converted from diesel to CNG.
