In a notable development, the foundation stone of a natural gas pipeline in the vegetable market ground, Sector 15, Panchkula has been laid on April 14, 2021. The work of laying the pipeline will be carried out by Indian Oil-Adani Gas Private Limited (IOAGPL).

Under the project, a pipeline of 10.85 km will be laid in the city and the work is expected to completed in a period of six months. In the first phase, compressed natural gas filling stations will be set up at petrol pumps in one month and in the second phase, pipelines will be laid to provide piped natural gas to every household in the city. 

IOAGPL has been granted authorisation by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board for implementation of city gas distribution project in districts of Ernakulam (Kerala); Chandigarh (UT); Prayagraj (UP); Daman (UT); Udhamsingh Nagar (Uttarakhand); Dharwad- Hubli (Karnataka); Panipat (Haryana); South Goa (Goa); Bulandshahr (UP); Gaya and Nalanda (Bihar); Panchkula (Haryana); Kozhikode and Wayanad (Kerala); Malappuram (Kerala); Kannur-Kasaragodu-Mahé (Kerala); Palakkad-Thrissur (Kerala); Bulandshahr-Aligarh (UP); Prayagraj-Bhadohi-Kausambi (UP); Burdwan (West Bengal) and Jaunpur (UP).
