North East Dairy and Foods Limited (NEDFL) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and Suzuki Research and Development Centre India (SRDI) for setting up Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant in Assam.
NDDB is likely to provide technical and institutional support, NEDFL would implement and operate the CBG plant and market its products, and SRDI would fund the project and realise the associated carbon credits and greenhouse gas emission reduction benefits.
The project involves converting agricultural and dairy waste into CBG, and is expected to improve scientific waste management and rural livelihoods, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and promote cleaner transport by offering CBG as an alternative to conventional fossil fuels for vehicles and industrial use.
