In a recent development, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) has approved setting up of two 150 tonnes waste to biogas plants by GAIL (India) Limited at an estimated cost of 200 million at Jhiri in Ranchi.

The plants will be set up in two phases. The work on first phase has commenced and it is likely to be completed by July 2023.

Ranchi generates about 500 tonnes of waste everyday. The plants will help in eliminating the mountain of garbage from Jhiri by using it as raw material.
