Megha City Gas Distribution Private Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu (GoTN) for the development of city gas distribution (CGD) infrastructure in the state.

As per the MoU, Megha Gas would invest around Rs 22.29 billion over a period of eight years towards building and developing the CGD network involving construction of city gate and mother stations, laying pipelines to provide piped natural gas (PNG) connectivity to domestic, commercial and industrial establishments.

It has over 10 compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in Tiruvannamalai, Perambalur, Thanjavur and Dindigal geographical areas (GA) in the state.

Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has authorised Megha Gas to lay CGD infrastructure in 62 districts across 22 GAs in nine states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Odisha, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
