The Kochi-Mangaluru natural gas pipeline project is expected to commission in December 2020, with GAIL (India) Limited completing the laying of pipelines for the project. Post-commissioning, the industrial units in Mangaluru will receive gas through the pipeline in a week’s time. Meanwhile, the final work of laying the 1.5 km long pipeline across Chandragiri river in Kasaragod stands completed.
The project was launched in 2009 at a cost of Rs 20.15 billion. Under Phase I of the project, the pipeline project intended to take gas to the industrial units in Kochi, but was later extended to Mangaluru under Phase II.
