As per the Kerala government, Indian Oil-Adani Gas Private Limited (IOAGPL) is planning to set up a compressed natural gas station at Puthuvype. The decision of commissioning a CNG station is being driven by the presence of the Petronet LNG terminal in the region.

Currently, 10 CNG stations each are functioning in Ernakulam and Thrissur districts. Malappuram has four while Palakkad and Kannur have one each. Further, IOAGPL has plans to set up 615 CNG stations in the state by 2026.

IOAGPL has been granted authorisation by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board for implementation of city gas distribution project in districts of Ernakulam (Kerala); Chandigarh (UT); Prayagraj (UP); Daman (UT); Udhamsingh Nagar (Uttarakhand); Dharwad- Hubli (Karnataka); Panipat (Haryana); South Goa (Goa); Bulandshahr (UP); Gaya and Nalanda (Bihar); Panchkula (Haryana); Kozhikode and Wayanad (Kerala); Malappuram (Kerala); Kannur-Kasaragodu-Mahé (Kerala); Palakkad-Thrissur (Kerala); Bulandshahr-Aligarh (UP); Prayagraj-Bhadohi-Kausambi (UP); Burdwan (West Bengal) and Jaunpur (UP).
