Following the announcement of Green Hydrogen policy in February 2022, the Central government now plans to initiate the green hydrogen mission soon. The announcement for the same included the listing of sectors expected to incorporate the use of green hydrogen. Further, cheaper renewable power has also been assured, with fee waivers being announced for projects commissioned before June 2025. This also being done to aid in the transition to achieving net zero. Emphasis has been laid on India to cater not just to the domestic demand, but also tend to the global requirements, in order to emerge as a global hub. Reportedly, the green hydrogen mission encourages bunkers to be set up near major ports for ease in exporting. It is a key policy initiative which will tie in with developments in port infrastructure.
