Indian Gas Exchange (IGX) has traded 5.6 million metric British thermal units (mmBtu) of natural gas in December 2025. It decreased by 2 per cent as compared to December 2024.

Besides, there were 238 trades carried out in December 2025 comprising 63 monthly, 52 intraday, 37 fortnightly, 35 day-ahead, 30 daily, 12 balance of money (BoM), 8 weekly and one 6-month contracts.

Additionally, the country’s Gas Index of India (GIXI) has witnessed 18 per cent decrease to USD 11 per mmBtu in December 2025, as compared to December 2024.

IGX stands as the country’s first automated national-level gas exchange designed for the physical delivery of natural gas. Currently, it facilitates trades across 21 delivery locations including six liquified natural gas (LNG) terminals, three pipeline interconnection points and twelve domestic gas field landfall sites.
