Indian Gas Exchange (IGX) has traded 4.7 million metric British thermal units (mmBtu) of natural gas in May 2025. It has decreased by 5 per cent as compared to May 2024. 

Besides, there were 140 trades carried out in May 2025 comprising 39 daily contracts, 24 monthly contracts, 8 weekly, 24 fort-nightly, 44 day-ahead and one intraday contract. 

Additionally, the country’s Gas Index of India (GIXI) has witnessed 19 per cent increase to USD11.9 per mmBtu in May 2025, as compared to May 2024. However, GIXI recorded a decrease of 5 per cent as compared to April 2025. 

IGX stands as the country’s first automated national-level gas exchange designed for the physical delivery of natural gas. Currently, it facilitates trades across 15 delivery locations including four LNG terminals, three pipeline interconnection points and eight domestic gas field landfall sites.
