Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is planning to commence piped natural gas (PNG) supply in Siliguri district of West Bengal by March 2026 in Phase-I of City Gas Distribution (CGD) project. It would cover around 3,000 households in Phase-I.

Currently, 60 per cent of the pipeline laying work has been completed. The supply would commence from Bagdogra and later on extend to Matigara, Shivmandir and Atharokhai areas of the city. 

Additionally, HPCL is planning to provide compressed natural gas (CNG) across Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, and North Dinajpur districts at an estimated cost of Rs 17 billion.
