The Government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP) aims to add 1.62 million new domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections by March 2027. About 1,60,121 household connections have been provided till June 2026, achieving about 9.86 percent of the target. Connection drive is under progress at Prayagraj, Lucknow, Meerut, Moradabad, Mathura, Gorakhpur, Firozabad, Muzaffarnagar, Varanasi, Aligarh, Bulandshahr, Auraiya, Gautambudhnagar and Shahjahanpur.
The state has expanded its City Gas Distribution (CGD) network to provide PNG access to around 24 million households across 43 geographical areas.
About 13 CGD companies, including IOC Adani Gas, Torrent Gas, Green Gas Ltd (GGL), GAIL Gas, GAIL India, Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) and HPCL, operate in state, expanding pipeline infrastructure and providing new household connections. GGL alone serves over 0.21 million domestic PNG consumers, about 0.11 million in Lucknow and 0.10 million in Agra.
