The Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) is set to complete a 700-km pipeline from Mumbai to Nagpur in order to enable the flow of gas to central India. The gas pipelines will be taking the fuel to the east and northeast regions as well as to the consumers in south. This is planned to enable government’s push to raise the share of natural gas in India’s energy basket to a 15 per cent by 2030 from the current share of 6.7 per cent. Moreover, GAIL is also on track to meet the target of mid-2022 for completing major portions of Urja Ganga project, making eastern India secure a position on energy map.
