Compressed natural gas (CNG) prices have witnessed a sharp hike across states in the past six months, with some cities recording as much as a 37 per cent increase. With city gas distributors striving to cover their increased costs and maintenance of strong profit margins, Gujarat Gas has increased rates in all its operating areas across Gujarat by 30 per cent, while Adani Gas has raised CNG prices in Ahmedabad by 37 per cent. In addition to this, Indraprastha Gas has raised rates by 33 per cent in Delhi while Mahanagar Gas has increased the prices by 27 per cent in Mumbai. Overall, prices rose by Rs 7 in Delhi and Rs. 9.6 per kg in Ahmedabad.
