City gas company authorities in Kochi await the sanction letter from the Kochi Corporation to commence laying pipelines in the city divisions. It is worth noting that a natural gas distribution project undertaken by the Indian-Oil-Adani Gas Private Limited has been delayed by over five years in Kochi, and as per the company officials, the laying of pipelines for six wards of the corporation will begin once the sanction letter is obtained. The natural gas is going to be supplied to domestic as well as commercial consumers in Vennala, Kunnumpuram, Thammanam, Palarivattom, Chakkaraparambu, and Ponnurunni East divisions near the National Highway. As of now, the work has commenced in 11 wards of Kalamassery municipality and 18 wards of Thrikkakara municipality.
