Reportedly, the domestic gas volumes of city gas distribution (CGD) sector stood at 15.2 mmscmd in April 2021, registering a decline of 12 per cent month-on-month basis. However, this remains higher than the consumption of 4.2 mmscmd in April 2020.
According to ICRA, the decline in volumes is on account of the lockdowns imposed to stem the surge of Covid-19 cases. The transportation and passenger mobility segments were hit the hardest by the lockdowns. Even though the lockdowns have resulted in reduced industrial activity, the impact has not been as severe as it was 2020.
