The Union Government has laid foundation for development of the compressed biogas (CBG) plant at Brahmapuram, Kochi in Kerala.
The project, which is being implemented by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) includes construction of a bio-CBG plant to convert 150 tonnes per day (tpd) organic waste into biogas. BPCL has been provided with 10 acres land, water and electricity to lay pipelines for setting up the plant to convert organic waste into CBG. The project is likely to be completed by March 2025 at an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 billion.
