The Government of Kerala (GoK) is planning to inaugurate the Brahmapuram Compressed Biogas (CBG) Plant in Kochi, Kerala by February 27, 2026.

Currently, trial runs for the second biodigester are underway. 

The project is being implemented by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). The plant is being set up over an area of 10 acres and to process 150 tonnes of solid waste to produce around 6 metric tonnes (mt) of CBG 128 tonnes of solid and liquid organic manure which would be supplied to BPCL’s Kochi Refinery at an investment of Rs 900 million.
