Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) Kochi Refinery has commenced land procurement process to set up Bio-CNG plant at Brahmapuram in Kochi. BPCL has written to Kochi Municipal Corporation for leasing of 10 acres of land for the plant.

The scope of the project includes construction of a bio-CNG plant to convert 150 tonnes per day (tpd) organic waste into biogas. BPCL will be provided with the necessary land, water and electricity to lay pipelines for setting up the plant to convert organic waste into compressed biogas at Brahmapuram in Kochi, Kerala. 

The estimated cost of the project is Rs 750-Rs 800 million.
