Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is planning to establish 10 new liquefied natural gas (LNG) stations across the country.
Additionally, it is likely to sign a five-year agreement with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) for supply of 0.45 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) LNG to meet the growing demand for cleaner fuels.
As part of its strategy to enhance its natural gas footprint, BPCL plans to invest Rs 250 billion in its gas business, which encompasses city gas distribution (CGD), LNG infrastructure, and other related projects. The aim is to increase the share of natural gas in its portfolio from the current 4 per cent to around 8-9 per cent in the coming years.
