Eight Army Stations and six city gas distributors signed an agreement for supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to 41 military establishments including about 2,000 households on September 3, 2026.
The six distributors include Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), Think Gas, Torrent Gas, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Central U.P. Gas Limited.
Phase-I covers 12 Army establishments, while 29 others are planned for the next stage. PNG supply is expected to commence by March 2027.
The agreement is part of the Army’s PNG Drive 3.0 initiative, which will expand PNG coverage from October 1, 2026.
Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) will oversee the city gas distribution (CGD) networks and set quality and safety standards for natural gas supply.
