In a notable development, the Government of Delhi has inaugurated a large-scale biogas plant at Nangli Dairy in Delhi on September 20, 2025.
The plant is currently under trials and is expected to run at its full capacity by November 2025.
The plant has a waste processing capacity of 200 tonnes per day (tpd). It will also provide 30 tpd of compost which will be distributed to farmers and 5600 kg of compressed natural gas (CNG) which will be incorporated with Indraprastha Gas Limited’s (IGL) pipeline network in the region. The project had an overall cost of Rs 160 million and was developed over an area of 2.7 acres.
Similarly, two projects are being implemented at Gogha and Goyla Daries, each having a capacity of 200 tpd. They are expected to be completed by March 2026 and March 2025, respectively.
