Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has been shortlisted as technically qualified for grant of authorisation for the Kochi- Kanyakumari- Thoothukudi natural gas pipeline. Bids for the same were invited by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) in May 2025.
The project involves laying, building or operating 425 km of natural gas pipeline from Kochi in Kerala to Thoothukudi (Tuticorin) in Tamil Nadu via Kottayam, Kottarakkara, Kattakkada and Nagarcoil with initial system capacity of 6 million metric standard cubic meters per day (mmscmd). The proposed pipeline will originate from Kochi-Kanjirakode-Bangalore/Mangalore gas pipeline or Petronet LNG Limited’s (PLL) Kochi liquefied natural gas (LNG) Terminal Project and will further connect to Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s (IOCL) Ennore-Tuticorin natural gas pipeline at Tuticorin.
