HPCL LNG Limited (HPLNG), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has commissioned the Chhara liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal.
The LNG cargo ship, Maran Gas Coronis, was berthed at the terminal on January 6, 2025. Besides, the transfer of cargo to the onshore LNG tanks was completed on January 12, 2025.
The project involved LNG storage and regasification terminal at Chhara in Gir Somnath district of Gujarat with system capacity of five million metric tonnes per annum (mmtpa) entailing an investment of Rs 47.5 billion. The terminal would receive natural gas in liquid state through cryogenic ships which would then be converted into gas before supplying to industries as feedstock.
