Around 50,000 households in Bhubaneswar and 25,000 in Cuttack will get piped natural gas (PNG) directly supplied to their households by end of 2022. GAIL (India) Limited has set a target to supply PNG to around 75,000 households in the two cities by December 2022 and add 20,000 more connections per year from 2023 onwards.

GAIL (India) Limited has been authorised to operate in Khurda and Cuttack under the city gas distribution project. The company started creating infrastructure in 2017 with an investment of Rs 2.5 billion to supply piped gas to 20,000 households in Bhubaneswar and 10,000 in Cuttack. Further, the company has set up 16 compressed natural gas stations in the last four years.
